Microsoft Windows is a graphical interface operating system that Microsoft Corporation has developed. Microsoft Windows is a very friendly, popular and most used OS, which is very popular among people due to its graphical display and other features. The Windows operating system uses Windows, icons and tools to simplify the complex operations of a computer. Prior to the release of the Microsoft Windows Graphical OS, users used to work on the MS-DOS OS command line. Because Microsoft wanted to name the name of its product as simple and unique in a word that accurately defines the GUI interface of Microsoft, so only Microsoft chose "Windows" word because the GUI has multiple Windows and different programs and run run To be used is used. That's why Microsoft renewed its product by adding Windows word with its company name, which is called "Microsoft Windows".


    Information about Windows 7's User Interface

    The user interface of Windows 7 is the medium through which the user interact or work with the operating system.

    Windows Desktop 

    When you power your computer, and Windows 7 loads. Then the first screen or window area you see on the computer is called the desktop of Windows Operation System. 

    Desktop 7 has the following visual elements:

    1. Desktop Icons
    2. Desktop wallpaper
    3. Taskbar

    Working with Desktop Icons 

    The Windows 7 desktop usually has one or more small images. These small images are called icons.
    Icons is a symbolic representation of something. 
    Such as drives, folders, files or programs. With the help of icons you can open an application by double clicking on its icon.
    For example, when Windows 7 opens, you see the icon named Recycle Bin, which is at the upper-left corner of your desktop.

    The main function of the Recycle Bin is to temporarily store deleted files or folders. If you wish, it can be deleted from the Recycle Bin later or forever. 

    Include icons on desktop

    You can keep several icons on the desktop. If you want to add the icons to your desktop, follow the steps below.
    We want to add a drawing program- Paint as a desktop icon in our case here, in Windows 7.

    To add the icon

    1. Click the start and down start button in the taskbar.
    2. Click All Program Options.
    3. Click on the Accessories folder from the program list.
    4. Right click on the Paint program.
    5. Click on Send To option from the context menu.
    6. Now select the desktop option from the context menu.
    The program you want to add will be added to desktop as a desktop icon. You can open it by double clicking it.

    Arrange desktop icons

    1. Right click anywhere in the empty space of the desktop.
    2. Select the View option from the Contact menu.
    3. Select the auto arrange option.

    Hide Desktop Icons

    1. Right click anywhere in the empty space of the desktop.
    2. Select the View option
    3. Click on show desktop icons.
    Note- Here is the check mark of this option () It shows that icons are shown on the desktop. If you delete the check mark by clicking and then there will be no icon display on the desktop.

    Changing Desktop backgrounds i.e. changing the wallpapers

    Appearance depends primarily on its background. The desktop background is also called a wallpaper. Wallpaper is a picture, which is spread over the entire desktop. All desktop icons are displayed on the wallpaper itself. And you can change the wallpaper anytime you want. It is very easy to change the wallpaper.

    To change the wallpaper

    1. Right click on the empty space anywhere on the desktop.
    2. Click the Personalize option. (Desktop background window will appear on your screen after Clicking.

    3. You can select any of the wallpaper packs given in the Aero themes from this Windows. (We have selected Nature Theme here.)

    4. Close the desktop background window.
    Note- If you want to change the second wallpaper from the wallpaper pack to the background, then-

    1. Right click on the empty space of the desktop. 

    2. From the context menu, click Next Background option.

    2. Right-click on the image, and select Set as Desktop Background option from the context menu.

    Use of Taskbar 

    The taskbar is an important part of the desktop. The taskbar is a long horizontal bar, which is located at the bottom of the screen. With the help of the taskbar you can open Install programs and documents in the computer.

    Panning a program on the taskbar


    1. Right-click on the program that you want to pin on the taskbar.
    2. Select the Pin to taskbar option from the Context menu
    Note- To unpin a program, right-click on the program on the taskbar and select the Unpin the program from Taskbar option.

    Lock or unlock the taskbar 

    1. Right click on the empty space in the taskbar.
    2. Select the lock the taskbar option from the context menu.

    Automatically hide the taskbar (auto-hiding the Taskbar)

    1. Right click anywhere in the empty place of the taskbar.
    2. Select the Properties option from the context menu. (You will get a dialog box)
    3. Select the Auto-Hyde The Taskbar check box from the dialog box.
    4. Click OK button.
    5. Close the desktop background.
    Note- If you want to change the second wallpaper from the wallpaper pack to the background, then-
    1. Right click on the empty space of the desktop. 

    2. From the context menu, click Next Background option.

    Using the Start Menu

    Start button, by the taskbar's left and has a concert button. On which Microsoft logo is placed, when you place the mouse pointer on the button, the name of that button that is called Start is displayed.
    The Start Menu gives you the right to open all the programs installed in your computer. You can open by selecting any program of your choice from the Start button.

    Starting the program 

    The Start menu is usually used to start programs. For this, by clicking on the Start button, selecting All Programs option from the left part. 
    As such, if 
    we want to open the calculator program with the help of the Start menu here-

    1. Click the Start button.
    2. Click All Programs option.
    3. Click on the Accessories folder.
    4. Click on the calculator program.

    Working with Windows 7 Programs 

    There are many important programs available in Windows 7, with which you can easily complete many essential tasks. 

    Some of the main programs available in Windows 7

    1. WordPad
    2. Paint
    3. Calculator
    4. Snipping tool
    5. Windows Media Player
    Microsoft launched OS for mobile besides computers, laptop and server but it did not get as much success as expected. Most Android OSs got success on mobile In 2014 Microsoft acknowledged that it is far behind Android OS in the mobile OS.

    2016 year, Microsoft continues to be very current for users as Microsoft recently launched a new version of Windows for PC, tablets, smartphones and embedded devices called Windows 10. The new OS was launched for Windows Server, which is named Windows Server 2016.
