Here we will discuss about the computer-related processing device i.e. CPU and memory, so Let’s start about Components Of Processing Device in Computer .
Processing Device –
The processing device is the part of the computer, with the help of which the data or order input by the user is processed.
Computer processing (CPU) is a processing device. The CPU computer has Brain, it looks like a small chip, and is mounted on the motherboard.
CPU speed is measured in megahertz (megahertz or MHz). Over the past several years, the speed of computer has improved gradually. One of the world’s largest hardware companies Intel has created the Core Series of Processor. The core processor is the latest i7 processor, with a speed of 3460 MHz (3.46 GHz). Other than the core series, processors include Intel Pentium, Celeron, AMD.
Control Unit: – The control unit controls the flow of data in the computer.
Memory unit: – There is a certain amount of storage capacity in order to operate the program and keep data safe in every computer system. This storage capacity of the computer is called memory.
Memory Measurement Unit –
The memory capacity of the computer is measured in the following forms: –
The smallest unit of bit-memory (0,1)
8 bit = 1 Byte or 1 character
1024 Bytes = 1 Kilobyte (KB)
1024KBs = 1 Megabyte (MB)
1024 MBs = 1 Gigabyte (GB)
1024GBs = 1 Terabyte (TB)
1024TBs = 1 Petabyte (PB)
Types of Memory: –
Depending on the purpose and actions, the memory is divided into two parts: –
Primary Memory: – This type of memory is used to store data or program in temporary form. The primary memory in the computer is called RAM (Random Access Memory). It is a rectangle chip, which works closely with the CPU. The CPU reads and executes the instructions stored in RAM. Any data that is being worked on is stored in RAM.
RAM is significantly faster in reading and writing than other types of storage devices such as Hard Disk, CD (Compact Disk). But the data in the RAM remains the same until the computer is in the current state. When you turn off the computer, RAM loses its data. When you restart the computer, the operating system and other programs or files are loaded again in RAM. In other words, RAM is a temporary memory. RAM is available in 512MB, 1 GB, 2GB, 4GB and 8GB memory size.
Secondary Memory: – This type of memory is used to store data and program in a permanent form. Store data and program does not disappear even after the computer is shut down in secondary memory. In the current computer, hard disk drive is usually used as secondary storage. Hard disk is the device that stores all the programs and data in the computer permanently. Therefore, the hard disk is also called the memory bank of the computer.
The hard disk is placed inside the system unit, and it is connected to the motherboard for functions. Currently, hard disk capacity is measured in GB and TB.
Apart from the hard disk, there are some more important secondary memory: –
